The Warriors’ Fell

The Warriors’ Fell

The “mighty” Golden State Warriors has lost the 2016 NBA Championship. They were the favorite to win it again. They have been one tough nut to crack. But they got their asses handed to them by a team that has been disrespected, discounted, and looked down on, the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Just to be clear, I am a San Antonio Spurs fan.

Joe Lacob, the Warriors’ majority owner was interviewed by NY Time magazine. He has a lot of things to say for his Warriors team. He said, “He boasted that the Warriors are playing in a far more sophisticated fashion than the rest of the league. “We’ve crushed them on the basketball court, and we’re going to for years because of the way we’ve built this team,” he said. But what really set the franchise apart, he said, was the way it operated as a business. “We’re light-years ahead of probably every other team in structure, in planning, in how we’re going to go about things,” he said. “We’re going to be a handful for the rest of the N.B.A. to deal with for a long time.” Okay. So, the Warriors are light years ahead? The way they have built their team? Let’s be real. Like I said before, ARROGANCE HAS A HEFTY PRICE: A RING.

Where did their style of play came from? The style is not new. It was and has been done by another team before. Now, I can say, the GS Warriors are NOT what Mr. Lacob has said. Yeah, they did good against Chokelahoma Thunders in the Semis. They won the first 2 games of the 2016 NBA Finals against the Cavaliers. There also was the Draymond “Ball Hitter” Green’s acts where he tries to grab or hit another man’s balls. Good thing he got suspended. Then Klay Thompson has the audacity to say that LBJ’s “feelings just got hurt” by Draymond’s trash talks. LBJ? Hurt? Guess he really doesn’t know LBJ then. Good thing LBJ knows how to respond to it, watch here.

It’s good that the Finals is over. After a week, I have now concluded that GSW has doesn’t know how to accept defeat. They only lost 9 games in the regular season. They have beaten the 95-96 Bulls’ records. But they were not able to really get over that record because they lost the Finals. Humbled.

But I am not discounting the GSW. They still are a good team. Not the best though. They will come back strong next season. I still don’t like them. LBJ has earned back my respect and admiration. I am not even gonna write about Steph’s wife. Let’s give her the benefit of the doubt.

I still am a San Antonio Spurs fan. Hopefully this coming season, it’s the Spurs.

San Antonio Spurs

2 wins. 4 losses.

The San Antonio Spurs lost to the OKC Thunder in Game 6 of the 2016 NBA Playoffs. Heartbreaking. Again. I still recall how we lost the 2013 NBA Championships back then against the Miami Heat. 2012 we lost against the OKC Thunder too. Then we lost to the LA Clippers last year. I thought this will be OUR YEAR for the 6th NBA Championship Ring… but no.

Destiny has other plans for us, for our team. Aldridge is here, Kawhi is still young, Danny Green can still improve but Manu and Timmy might not be back again next year. The GSW will still brag about being the might-be-Champions. I hope they lose against the Cavs. I hope the Thunder lose against the GSW. I hope… I hope TD, Manu and TP can still one more ring. Together.

I am angry at the results of the Philippine Vice President results. I am so darn tired of my work. I hate traveling back and forth from the house to the office every night. Then I came home with the OKC on a 20+ points lead against my SAS!? Where is justice in there?!

Forgive me for my rants. I am a BIG San Antonio Spurs fan. I wrote this article back in 2013 with tears and I am really heartbroken. Now, I am writing this piece with another heartache and tears, and with Jack Daniels. I can’t believe they lost just like that. It’s really hard for me to swallow this loss. 2013 was a heartbreaking loss… and then this one.

Part to blame are the NBA Referees who are not calling the needed calls and making the calls on miscues. But as irritating as it may, SAS never put the blame on them. There was even a scene where Kawhi questioned a ref’s call! KAWHI QUESTIONED A REF! How often do we see Kawhi question a call?

TD, TP and Manu might not come back next year. Age has caught up. Fathertime won’t and can’t be denied anymore. We need young ones to carry the tradition and the torch. We need Danny Green to improve more and more. Kawhi Leonard to be fiercer and be more than what he is now. We need to have LaMarcus Aldridge develop into the player that he is needed to be, tough.

I am still and will always be a San Antonio Spurs fan. Win or lose. My loyalty is theirs alone. SAS wins with grace, and losses with class and dignity.

to Tim Duncan (21), Tony Parker (9) and Manu Ginobili (20), if this should be your last, SALAMAT NG MARAMI.

The San Antonio Spurs

I have already posted two articles about my favorite NBA team, the San Antonio Spurs. These was when they lost the 2013 Championship and when they won the 2014 NBA Championships.

Right now, 2015 is where fans were hoping and praying that the Spurs would win another championships. But it was not to happen. Sadly, the team lost the battle to the LA Clippers.

I will not badmouth the Clippers since it’s just a game… for some.

It took me time before posting this article due to the fact that the Spurs lost. As of the moment, the Clippers are already 3-1 against the Houston Rockets for the semis. I lost interest in watching the NBA. But I did notice a lot of people were supporting the Spurs. A lot of people acknowledged them as the team with class and honor. They were defeated yes, but they are respected.

There were also rumors about trades and free agents. I wish the Spurs the best. I want them to dominate again. I want one more championship. I can only wait and see.

The San Antonio Spurs – 2014 NBA Champions.

The San Antonio Spurs. They have come a long way from the pains of last year’s lost to the Miami Heat. 2014 was a totally different Spurs team. They are more cohesive, more dependable, more aggressive and a real class of their own. The tears and heartbreak of last year’s lost has already been erased. REDEMPTION. That is what San Antonio did. They have redeemed themselves and proved to the world what it meant.

Honestly, it brought tears to my eyes, not because I was so angry at what happened last year, but because they have done it. They have shown to the their fans what teamwork means. What it means when they say “It’s for the love of the game.”

I could not forget this image from last year’s loss. It seemed that the whole world stop and grieve for the loss of San Antonio. But I think it gave them a more challenging task ahead of them. That lost made them BETTER. It made them STRONGER. It give them DETERMINATION.

And now, YOUR 2014 NBA Champions!

From a Spurs fan

I am a San Antonio Spurs fan. I live in the Philippines and was introduced to NBA when I was in high school. Back then, there are only few teams from the NBA that I know of. Pistons, Celtics, Lakers. Then I learned of the Bulls, Knicks, Hornets, Rockets, etc.  Then came 1997 when I learned of the Spurs with then Center, David Robinson. I found this guy to be a gentle-giant. He’s a gentleman on his own right and then came Tim Duncan. I was so frustrated back then when David Robinson retired. But before he left, I have seen how he trained Tim Duncan on the lowpost. I saw him “pass the torch” to this young man who rarely shows his emotions and most of the times, keeps his emotions in check. I saw how Tim Duncan became the MVP for the 1999 season. And he won 3 more championships after that.

Now, reading Wikipedia, I saw that for this season, 2013. Tim has had some personal issue and says that he and his wife had been divorced. But still, his game was stellar and his leadership excellent.

When the Spurs were waiting for the Finals opponent, I mentioned to a friend that IF the Heat wins against the Spurs, their championship against OKC will be solidified and they will really be a great team, but if they lost to the Spurs, they’re just a group of wanna-be’s. The Finals were set, and down to Game 7, the Spurs lost to the Heat, which broke my heart. And it broke my heart further seeing pictures of Tim Duncan who, I know he walks with his head looking at the ground/bowed, but on this game, it seems that he carried the load too much and even goes on blaming himself that they lost. I thought that he should have his head up high for he has nothing to be ashamed of. He has nothing to prove because people know how great a person and a player he is. Even his opponents know how great a guy he is. Even Shane Battier said: “That’s a shot Tim Duncan usually makes eight out of ten times. For whatever reason that shot didn’t drop right then. I’m very thankful. It wasn’t because of my defense. Just missed it.” Even Dwayne Wade is fond of him and LeBron James.

I am a San Antonio Spurs fan. And will still be a fan.
