Palawan Trip

Palawan Trip

Palawan is one if not the best Island in the world. It first became the most beautiful island in the world last 2015. Then it became the most beautiful island in the world last 2016. I never really considered myself a traveler. But thinking about it I have already been to some places here in the Philippines. For example in Laguna alone I have already been to towns namely, Liliw, Nagcarlan, Sta. Cruz, Calauan. To name a few. I have been to BatangasTanauan, Nasugbu, Lian, Balayan, Sto. Tomas. To Quezon province – Lucena, Mulanay, Macalelon, Catanuan. I have been to Rizal province – Taytay, Antipolo. Been to Cavite – Tagaytay, Bailen. I have also been to Cebu, Leyte, Northern Samar, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Baguio, parts of La Union and Bulacan.

Last April 10th to the 17th, 2017 though, I had a pleasure of being able to travel to Palawan and marvel at how God made this province. Palawan is a gem. It has been voted as the most beautiful island in the world for years – 2013, 2016. Palawan has some of the most finest sands in the world. It has white beaches that can rival Boracay. Palawan has El Nido, Coron and Puerto Princesa – just to name a few.

On our first day in Palawan we went to Honda Bay for 3 island hopping activities. We went to starfish Island then to Luli Island then to Cowrie Island. Each island has its own to offer. Then for the first night we had to tricycles to bring us to fireflies Farm. Weaver told of how fireflies benefit our environment and how fireflies are indicator of a healthy environment.

Palawan also has one of the Seven Wonders of the World which is the Subterranean River. This is where we went for our second day. It took us roughly  3 hours  to get there. When we got to the Subterranean River it was magnificently awesome. The river has 12 kilometers total, but only 1.5 kilometers is allowed for visitors. The rest is for researchers from Italy. We have been told that the river is cold but we are advised not to dip our hands because the fish might bite our hands or fingers. Subterranean River also boasts some of the best stalactites and stalagmites that you will ever see.

We also went to El Nido and we stayed at a hotel whom I will not name. My personal experience with El Nido is a satisfying one. Although I have issues with Wi-Fi and the water pressure which seems to be an island issue, I still would say that I am happy with El Nido. El Nido has a lot of different islands that you can visit and that you can explore. you can also go snorkeling, deep-diving and a whole lot more. Just be sure to wear a rash guard so that you will not get sunburned. There is also some in Island activities in El Nido. We have been told that we can go rappelling, rock climbing and other stuff. But we were unable to do any of the in Island activities.

After the El Nido activities we went back to Puerto Princesa for our last day which includes City tour. It is where tourists go within Puerto Princesa City. We went to Butterfly farm where we saw different species of butterflies and other places that I have already forgotten. After eating our lunch at Nicnocs, we headed back to the hotel to finally get ready for our flight to Manila.

I miss Palawan.

Filipino spirit

This is my flag, the Filipino flag. We can wave it even through the most powerful storms. Because we know that at the end of it all, Filipinos can still smile. Filipinos can be tough when needed, but we also break down in tears when our kababayans suffer alone. We cannot let them suffer the pain of loss and tragedy alone. We weep with them. We cry with them. We will not let them walk the road of pain alone. This is our flag.

One nation. One flag. Filipino.

Lady Gaga, the LGBT and the Christians

Her name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, famously known as Lady Gaga, is in the country right now to perform a 2 night concert at the SM Mall of Asia or MOA. This is actually the 2nd time she is performing in the Philippines. And before she arrives, I think she has already read or heard about the protests of some “Religious” groups here in the Philippines. They don’t want her to have her concert here because they want her to “respect our faith, stop the blasphemy.” But organizers from Ovation Productions said they respect the beliefs of critics but promised that the performances “will not pose a threat to their sense of morality and conduct.

She was famous for her songs “Poker Face”, “Bad Romance”, “Telephone” and “Alejandro” just to name a few. And also some rumors surrounding her sexuality. But we can’t deny that she is also famous for her sense of fashion and the songs that she sang. Alejandro has a very, very controversial video. According to Wikipedia, “’Alejandro’ created a media uproar after the release of the video because of its use of religious imagery. One of the most discussed scenes in the video was when Gaga, dressed in a latex nun outfit, swallowed rosary beads. The Catholic League criticized the video for its use of religious imagery, accusing Gaga of “playing a Madonna copy-cat”. Moncia Herrara said of the mayhem: “[Alejandro] courts religious controversy in much the same way that Madonna’s ‘Like a “Prayer’ video once did, intermingling Catholic imagery like rosary beads and nun’s robes with sexual cues.” In an interview with MTV, Klein explained that the religious symbolism was not meant to denote anything negative, but to represent Gaga’s battle between the darker and lighter forces. Thus at the end of the film, she is portrayed again in her nun’s habit. Klein added that the significance behind her mouth and eyes disappearing was “because she is withdrawing her senses from the world of evil and going inward towards prayer and contemplation.” He added that the scene where Gaga devours the rosary beads was her act of theophany, the desire to consume the body of God, the rosary being symbolic of the Holy.” You can check the link.

Why am I writing about her? It is because of her relationship and stand with LGBT or lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. Lady Gaga is a strong supporter of this group. According to Wikipedia, besides her career in music, Gaga has also contributed to various charities. Among others is:

Don’t get me wrong. I am not a fan of Lady Gaga. But with all the protests against her in this country, we have labeled our country “THE ONLY CHRISTIAN NATION IN ASIA”. Have we reached out to the LGBT? Or we are like the many who judges them because they are members of LGBT? My previous post has somehow become related to this one. Christians attacking other people because they are not Believers. We condemn people and say that they are Anti-Christ and all, that they are the abolition of the human race, etc.

I have nothing against Lady Gaga, but I don’t condone her acts and the way she sings and her songs. What I am concerned of, is my fellow Believers. Are we becoming more judgmental? I found an article from USAToday with this headline: “Study: Youth see Christians as judgmental, anti-gay.” We are not becoming light and salt of this world. We are not doing our jobs. We are becoming the antagonists of the world, which should not be. We need to be the people who dispenses GRACE my brothers and sisters. That is our function. That is why we are here. It was said, “hate the sin, love the sinner”. I know we need to draw the line on this issue, but then, we need to draw them while we pray for God’s wisdom.
