This is my flag, the Filipino flag. We can wave it even through the most powerful storms. Because we know that at the end of it all, Filipinos can still smile. Filipinos can be tough when needed, but we also break down in tears when our kababayans suffer alone. We cannot let them suffer the pain of loss and tragedy alone. We weep with them. We cry with them. We will not let them walk the road of pain alone. This is our flag.
One nation. One flag. Filipino.
“Sooner or later we all go through a crucible. I’m guessing yours was that island? Most believe there are two types of people who go into a crucible – the ones who grow stronger from the experience and survive it and the ones who die. But there’s a third type – the ones who learn to love the fire. Who chose to stay in their crucible because it’s easier to embrace the pain when that’s all you know anymore. That’s why I’m on the clock to help this city. Before it becomes used to living like this.”
